about

________________________

Tall skinny boy up to no good... Stranger Kings continue their journey of Cali-gaze rock and post-punk bass with their new record BLUE. Echoes of the heart of Samantha Baker from Sixteen Candles and John Bender's angst from Breakfast Club are a compass for the BLUE record. North, South, East ,and West are naive metrics to navigate innocence and the heart; it's a heavy feeling, it's a funny feeling... As is Stranger Kings BLUE.

Finding a solution in dissolution, Stranger Kings was formed by guitarist Eric Campuzano and bassist Herb Grimaud after The Lassie Foundation breathed its last with the departure of Jeff Schroeder for the Smashing Pumpkins. Early demos merged their Cali-gaze dream guitars and 80’s Brit post-punk melodic bass lines successfully enough to attract friends and contributors. Local solo artist Holly Nelson gave it a voice, and Brady Esquivel (Set To Sea) brought the drums to life.

Stranger Kings BLUE continues to pick their poison with their musical influences... A KROQ afternoon from '83-'92 with Rodney on the ROQ thrown in for good taste... A wrecking ball with a welcome banner…

Track Name: I Am An Earthquake
I’ll admit that you were right
When you said go back in time
I disagreed and picked a fight
But you were right

I’ll admit that I was scared
I’ll stay here and you’ll go there
Hoping that nobody cared
I wasn’t fair

One take
One more
Crawling on my knees but faster than before
One break tonight
And I’ll admit you were a little right

I’ll admit that I don’t care
Body broken everywhere
Take it all or leave it there
I don’t care

One take
One more
Crawling on my knees but faster than before
One break tonight
And I’ll admit you were a little right
All day I’ll try
Can you see me breaking with the daylight
One way tonight
And I’ll admit you were a little right
Track Name: Tall Skinny Boy
Tall skinny boy up to no good
Music playing in the garden
Tall skinny boy up to no good

Wrecking ball
Welcome banner
Welcome back
Wrecking ball with a welcome banner
Welcome back

It’s hard to see what you mean to me

Tall skinny boy up to no good
Music playing in the garden
Tall skinny boy up to no good

Hey hey wrecking ball
Hey hey welcome home
Hey hey wrecking ball
Welcome back

It’s hard to see what you mean to me

Welcome back
Like a ghost from Havana

When your words are not enough
It’s hard to see, hard to believe
When your words are not enough

It’s hard to see what you mean to me

Welcome back
Like a ghost from Havana
Track Name: Steppe
I am holding little bits of you
Going down like a rosary

I am holding these little bits of you
Going down like a rosary

Call me wonderful
Colorado
I am holding little bits of you

They call us Colorado
I don’t know what that means
They say one thing
They say another
We don’t know but we still have each other

Call me wonderful
Colorado
I am holding little bits of you
Like a forty-niner
A gold miner
I am holding little bits of you

Remember I am holding
Always know I am holding
Wonderful little bits of you
Wonderful little bits of wonderful

Call me wonderful
Colorado
I am holding little bits of you
Like a forty-niner
A gold miner
I am holding little bits of you
Track Name: Holiday From History
I spied you all the way across the hall
You saw me aching like a beck and call
I had a feeling you would make yourself known
You won’t let me down

Lovely when you look at me
Sudden sound of reveille
A holiday from history
Just you and me

Our future memories are all we’ve got
I’ve got a treasure chest of every though
I think you’re gonna make it alright

Lovely when you look at me
Sudden sound of reveille
A holiday from history
Just you and me

I spied you all the way across the hall
You saw me aching like a beck and call
I had a feeling you would make yourself known
You won’t let me down

Lovely when you look at me
Sudden sound of reveille
A holiday from history
Just you and me
Track Name: Year Book All Stars
Texas
California
Someone is always mourning
Here I go again
Always too late or early

Texas
California
We’re going live

Restless California
Come on it’s always morning
Here I go again
Always too late or early

Texas
California
We’re going live

Where did I go wrong
Stayed away too long
Track Name: Good Inside
We’re still good
We’re still good inside

Here take this
You can’t call a doctor
It’s too late to call a doctor

I know something you don’t
I know something inside
You don’t know

Whatever you are
Whatever you’re feeling
Whatever you are
You’re not defeated

We’ve made our beds
Hedged our regrets
With nothing left
We’re still good inside

We’re still good
We’re still good inside

We’ve made our beds
Hedged our regrets
With nothing left
We’re still good inside
Track Name: She Moves In LA
From where I stand I see a lot
I watch you watch
You watch her walk
You wanna text
You wanna call
But you can’t get her number

I’ve seen her kind
They own the world
Always sublime
The it girl
She is an angel
She is a dream
Wake up and see

She moves in LA
You want her to stay
But she moves in LA
No you’re not gonna play
Watch her walking away
Cuz she moves in LA

And she is here
Open the door
You think she’s coming back for more
Can’t find her keys
Forgot her coat
Look at the time
You gotta know
She gotta go

Cuz she moves in LA
You want her to stay
But she moves in LA
No you’re not gonna play
Watch her walking away
Cuz she moves in LA
Track Name: Hero Stealer
I’m on to you
Got my coat now I’m pushing through
I’m on to you
Going downtown crowded streetlight sidewalk pounding
You better believe it
I’m on to you

I’m on to you
Tell me no but I’m pushing through
I’m on to you
Gonna pound that downtown streetlight sidewalk howling
You better believe it
I’m on to you

Hold my hand
Walk me home
Track Name: Beat's So Lonely
Beat's so lonely
I’ll bet it’s lonely at the top
She hesitates but the beat will never stop
Wanting him only but the beat will never see
Her heart burning
That’s the secret that she keeps

Come on baby you know there’s something missing
Don’t find nothing
No more coincidences
Ready baby
Look in these eyes and you will see
Things will happen but only if they were meant to be

The beat's so lonely
I’ll bet it’s lonely at the top

She says beat's so lonely if you let it beat that way
She can’t tell the difference anyway
She thinks hold me but she’s scared to say
She’d pay dearly for the answers of her day

Come on baby you know there’s something missing
Don’t find nothing
No more coincidences
Ready baby
Before you give up all you’ve got
You’ve got to come closer
You’ve got to give it one more shot

The beat's so lonely
I’ll bet it’s lonely at the top
So lonely
Track Name: Doom Buggies
Half in the light you go
Set a fire

Half in the light you go
Set a fire

We may let you even though our heart might break

Set a fire

See the light on the page
See the letter you wrote me again

We light up in our falling apart
Light up

Halo
We are coming down
Again, the coming night

Set a fire
Track Name: Academy Academy
Gotta say you’re pretty cool
Remember when you crushed on someone new
It’s a heavy feeling

Gotta say I’ve got a gold star for you
My lungs are covered in candy cane dust
It’s a funny feeling
It’s a heavy feeling

I am West
I am cool
Gotta say something you don’t know
Just to know how it feels this one time

Got a zippo and a cherry bomb
Fourth of July, a cool summer night
It’s a heavy feeling

Gotta grab your loving hand
Cuz I’m no fool, I’ve got a crush on you
It’s a funny feeling
It’s a heavy feeling

I am West
I am cool
Gotta say something you don’t know
Just to know how it feels this one time

I am West
I am cool
Gotta say what you already know
Just to know how it feels this one time

I love you more than you’ll ever know
