Matthew C. Ruffner Other than being a fan of both Ryan Clark and Jason Martin, Clark's vocals over the guitar workmanship of Martin is a pleasant surprise. Favorite track: Some People.

Jason Sullivan I feel nostalgic for the 80's every time I hear Uppers....which is amazing considering this album was released in 2015!
Authentic sounding. They could be played right next to Depeche mode or Psychedelic furs and fit right in, in my opinion. Favorite track: Son Of Mine.

Swampyre McCobb I'm retroactively applying this music to my younger years. I only wish I already had a decade of history with these songs. Stylistically, it's got my favorite things: great layers without being overly complicated, scrumptious arrangements, a little dirgey... i listened to it all summer and infused it with the energy of tending my garden. Favorite track: Blood Red.

Patrick Maiwald Jason Martin, the genius behind projects like Starflyer 59, teamed up with the singer from Demon Hunter - and the two offer us a short yet heavy dose of well-written and well-produced catchy goth / wave nostalgia whose overall sound is a perfect blend of both 80s/90s and contemporary music. Every song is so great I bet a lot of other bands were happy if they ever reached the quality of what I can only imagine this duo's cutting room floor to be strewn with. Favorite track: Son Of Mine.

brantly Definitely an LP that hearkens back the halcyon-age of 80's dark-wave, but it' also updated slightly to make it sound like Depeche Mode was a Captured Tracks recording artist, or if The Wild Nothing and Starflyer 59 has been listening to old Bauhaus / Bowie records. A strong LP with some very catchy darkness to it!

about

Low & Behold is the unlikely collaboration between Jason Martin (Starflyer 59) and Ryan Clark (Demon Hunter) - now 7 years in the making. Drawing from Starflyer’s signature brand of shoe gaze, and injecting a healthy dose of 80s nostalgia, Uppers is a study in classic dark wave. Reverb-drenched guitars and haunting vocals recall a raw aesthetic of sound pioneered by groups like The Sisters Of Mercy, Depeche Mode, and Echo & The Bunnymen.
